LOCATION WANTED: Taiwanese Salt & Pepper Chicken (鹽酥雞)

LOCATION WANTED

Taiwanese Salt & Pepper Chicken

REQUEST DETAILS: Looking for a place in NYC that serves delicious and authentic Taiwanese Salt & Pepper Chicken (鹽酥雞). Particularly looking for places that serve the chicken with fried basil…can’t seem to find it on the East Coast anymore!

ATTRIBUTES: Slightly-larger-than-bite-size chunks of tender chicken coated by a significant – yet not too heavy – layer of fried batter. Some versions use the red seasoning salt,  whereas others fry the chicken alongside basil leaves. Finished with just the perfect dash of salt and pepper, and served with a lemon wedge.

LAST EATEN WHERE: Saint’s Alp Teahouse, NYC

LAST EATEN WHEN: March 2011

CURRENT STATUS: Still searching! However, the salt & pepper chicken served at the food court in Flushing Mall – along with many other equally excellent dishes – already comes pretty close to tasting like tiny, delicious morsels of Taiwan 🙂

Any information you can provide on where to find this dish is greatly appreciated.
